They say, “when it rains it pours.” I’ll admit I’ve had a few rainy days here lately, but today definitely pushed to the level of pouring. The hot water heater that served this house well for many (too many!) years gave out this afternoon. And it was a mess.
I think if my classmate, Brad, who owns a heating and air business locally, didn’t have one other customer he could’ve lived off me for the past month or so. To the rescue, he had the water heater installed and everything cleaned up before the end of the day. When I get ready to sell this place there’s nothing else (that I know of) that could possibly go wrong. Everything is new.
The only great thing that happened all day was this…

Surely this is some kind of important event that should go in the history books — from 82 degrees F to snow in just a few short days!

Mother Nature apologized for the late arrival of spring. Her excuse was Father Time was driving and refused to stop for directions.

I either like it HOT and sunny or I like SNOW — not a fan of much in between… including spring. But seriously, enough is enough already. Nearing the end of March, it’s not supposed to look like this in Indiana.

Winter in spring for some reason makes me feel antsy (for lack of a better descriptor), and the last snow moved me to be stupid too. Although I had back surgery and am grateful to be relatively normal, there are just some things I can’t do anymore without paying the price. Like painting ceilings. I did it anyway, and the only reason I didn’t pick up a paint roller after looking outside this morning is because I’m still recovering from the last snow in spring and paint project.
Even Dharma doesn’t want to go out to play in this stuff.

The other reason I’m in the mood for fresh paint and more is because my favorite son is doing amazing things in his new house. Old houses (his built in 1904) have so much potential! Every room of carpet ripped out reveals beautiful hardwood flooring. I’m inspired by the transformation and proud of his hard work!
I’m also a bit jealous. I don’t have those original hardwood floors or built-ins with amazing wood trim — and in this house, I’ll never enjoy those things. So I paint and rearrange and wonder if I’ll always live here. Stay tuned… I’ll share photos of his project… along with my orange bathroom that destroyed my back… soon.
Happy spring, y’all!

First day of spring was yesterday — and that’s when the biggest snowfall of the year (I think it’s the biggest) started. Today, some are without power and I’m thankful not to be one of them.

The snow is still lightly falling but should be just about over. Just like spring break for Colette — it’s almost done.
I’m the first to admit I sure do love a good wet snow… but c’mon! I wanted it during the WINTER and NOT spring.

It’s a spring/winter wonderland. 🙂

At around 9:30 PM last night — on the 13th of March — we had snow. The big wet beautiful flakes I’d been wanting all winter waited until the middle of March to appear.

While we may end up with a slight ground covering, it’s too little too late in my book. We had plenty of frigid days and ice storms this year — but the good ole’ snowman building type of snow passed by my hometown this winter season.
Sure hope my Easter lilies ignore this little setback of spring.
