I have a series of BLOGS that I subscribe to and read faithfully. One of them is simply called the Bloggess, and while I don’t recommend it for everyone, I find myself occasionally laughing out loud at her writing style, and wondering who she will offend tomorrow. Her post from yesterday was entitled ‘Twitter will not fix your car.’ To summarize, her car windows get stuck in the down position during a rainstorm, and she asks for advice on how to fix the problem on Twitter.
The comments to her post on the BLOG were equally as entertaining as the suggestions that others provided her on Twitter. Here’s one that was written by Writer Dad:
It’s just because you asked the wrong questions. I want to know fifty words for fart and I have them in less than sixty seconds, but if I have a serious question about WordPress, the only help I get is fifty words for fart.
But the whole post got me thinking about the expectations that many businesses have insofar as Twitter and other forms of social media. You can get tons of followers and build a bajillion relationships on Twitter, but even then — Twitter will not fix your car!

The best part of my day is oftentimes the most simplistic thing. Sometimes it is nothing more than a kind word on the phone from someone I’ve never met; sometimes it’s the birds I can hear singing outside as I work on inside projects. It’s different for everyone, and you don’t have to have some extreme event happen to say your day was great.
For Libby, the best part of the day occurs at night. She LOVES to go to bed. The scratches, the personal attention — all the things that makes humans feel good is what she appreciates. The only other thing that can compete is a visit from her boyfriend, Bubby Carl, who whispers in her ear and tells her that she’s sexy.

Ben chose the restaurant — it was his birthday after all. When he said he wanted to eat at Kabuto’s, I planned to eat before I got to the restaurant. Sushi is NOT my thing.
Much to my surprise, Kabuto’s Japanese Steakhouse was awesome…and something different! They feature hibachi grills where your own private chef will serve you and your party right off the grill. As you watch your chef twirl a spatula and chop fresh veggies, he even takes time to interact with the dining party — flipping an occasional veggie for someone to catch (or attempt to catch) in their mouth.
I hope that Ben enjoyed his birthday bash as much as the rest of us!

The sun doesn’t know if it wants to shine today or cover up with rain clouds. When I spoke with my brother earlier today as he was driving in downtown Indy, he said it was snowing. At least we aren’t getting that.
