getting closer to peak

Have you ever seen a smoke tree? Those peskies have had one for a few years and I always teased that I was going to dig it up while they were gone. I guess they believed me, because this past spring they brought one over and even planted it in the front yard near the road. In the same spot an evergreen was planted a few years prior to that and died. I’m not sure what’s wrong with that one yard spot, but my smoke tree hasn’t made the first sign of growing. I’ll grab a photo of theirs soon to share, but in the meantime…

We are surely getting closer to the peak of beautiful fall leaves for the season. Nothing more than a tiny corner marker a few years back, the fire bush on the SW property line is now a gorgeous shade of red.

Rural Indiana is really pretty this time of year. Too bad it doesn’t last.
