As I sit in my blue light blocker glasses — cursing my keyboard because of a sticking “s” key — I’m going to publicly state that I agree with the American Academy of Ophthalmology. They’ve gone on record to say the claims about better sleep, improving eye comfort, and protecting your retinas by wearing blue blockers are all false. They say the problem is simply overuse of digital products and not the blue light coming from them. A bajillion other people agree with my Mom, swearing they help, and spent $19m in 2020 to prove it.
All I know is I’ve worn them all day long and at almost 1:30 AM, I could probably run a marathon. Or… maybe just sit here at the computer another 2 or 3 hours before turning on the TV. ARG!
There are upcoming events that require me to sleep so I’ll be my best self…
- An artic blast that’s to arrive this weekend. I ordered an extra infrared heater for the garage (where my well pumps and pipes are located), a new door strip to keep out draft (the old one has seen better days), and groceries will be delivered tomorrow so I don’t have to get out. Need sleep for motivation.
- Indiana has updated their information on who gets the vaccine next and it looks like I’ll make the upcoming cut. No time limit as to exactly when it will open up, but my age group is definitely in Phase 1-B eligibility. No way I want to sleep through that!
- My granddaughter has challenged me to a dance competition (Just Dance for the Nintendo). I need to be in top form to have a chance to show her how it’s done. She already beat her Dad. 😂
TIL (Today I Learned): In 2008, a stamp was issued by the country of Albania to honor John Belushi, who was of Albanian heritage.
I LOVED John Belushi when I was young… even had a big poster of him hanging on my bedroom wall. Upon his death in 1982 (after being injected with 11 speedballs), I cried like he was a personal friend. When Cathy Smith was sentenced to 15-months (manslaughter and other drug charges) after admitting to injecting Belushi with the drugs that killed him, I thought she should have gotten 15-years. I still do. She died last year at age 73.
