COVID confusion

Mar 29, 2021

Two posts in one day isn’t the norm for me. Trying to go to bed earlier because of this stupid OURA ring did nothing but ensure I got up earlier. Today’s headlines are worth sharing — primarily so I can look back when I’m 103.

AP Newswire’s headline let me know about the WHO report on COVID-19 that was leaked prior to expected release on Tuesday. They point out early on that repeated delays of its release raises questions about whether the Chinese side was trying to skew conclusions — and the fact that the Beijing government helped write it. Further research was proposed in every area except the lab leak hypothesis — and says that animals are the likely source, per the AP article.

Remember… in one of his first acts as president, Biden rescinded former President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the WHO. That was to the tune of $200 million of our tax dollars.

On the other hand, CNN’s headline this morning was about how difficult it was for the pandemic doctors in “Trump’s White House” — stopping just short of saying Trump threatened them, and all deaths over 100k could’ve been mitigated had he behaved as they instructed.

And finally, my Reddit thread let me know about articles stating that 57% of the adults in UK have had their first vaccine. Per NPR, the US has vaccinated 27.6% of adults with the 1st dose — 14% fully vaccinated.

  • Indiana isn’t setting the world on fire in this regard — 15.7% fully vaccinated and 24.1% with first dose.
  • Florida — only 14.7% with one dose and 26.4% fully vaccinated.
  • Nevada is similar to Florida — 14.9% with one dose and 26.4% fully vaccinated.

The only good news is the rose I got early last week still looks as fresh as the day it was delivered. 🙂
