I’m currently sporting 3 wearables for comparison. Let me first say that I don’t think any are 100% accurate but figure they should be in the same ballpark if worn on the same body. I also think any of the 3 would benefit the wearer by motivating them to get on (or stay on) a healthier path.
SLEEP: My OURA ring, Apple Watch and Fitbit agreed on sleep with less than 3 minutes variation. All 3 put me in the RED zone for readiness– and OURA even cut my activity goal in half because it thought my body and brain were too stressed. (OUCH!)
STEPS: Steps are most important to me overall and the variation between the 3 wearables was big. My sleep is crap and probably always will be — but walking keeps me away from another back surgery. Here’s how my steps were counted yesterday: Fitbit – 10,946; Apple Watch – 9945; OURA — 8151. That’s about a one and one-half mile differential!
When I saw how many steps the OURA ring said I took, my face looked just like Merida’s in this photo:
I’m going to let this comparison test roll throughout the week, hoping my 2nd COVID vaccine on Wednesday doesn’t set me back. If so, the OURA ring will probably call the hospital for me.
TIL (Today I Learned): The Herpes Virus is being used to treat Cancer. A modified form of Herpes is already FDA approved to treat melanoma.
