My sweet Mama lost her companion of 15-years yesterday. I know she’s heartbroken — I’ve been there too. Twiggy was a rescue min pin and she was around 2 when the peskies brought her home. She was stick-thin… thus the name Twiggy, an English model from the 60’s.
Blind and deaf in her old age, she loved Mom and food. Carl was in second place in the human pecking order. Twiggy thought Colette was interesting but didn’t care for any of the rest of us. Colette called her “Chiggy” before she could speak clearly and that nickname hung around.
I know my brother and I inherited our love of dogs from Mom. Scott has always had a dog in the house (usually two), as have I (also usually two). Growing up, I can’t remember one single minute that we didn’t share our home with a dog. Not one minute!
While another dog doesn’t replace the one that’s gone, it does fill a void. I hope I get to propose new names for a new puppy in the near future. On that name list will be “Pesky” (maybe spelled Peskie to be cool and hip) because it fits. 🙂
I’m sure now that Twiggy has crossed the Rainbow Bridge she’s found Cricket and Toby… and other dogs my Mom has loved. Rest in peace, Twiggy, you sure were a good girl and amazing companion.
