I bought a tool today and have no clue what to call it. All I know for sure is that swinging an axe is not my jam. There are still about a billion saplings to cut down at Ben’s and we needed a new plan. These shoes may be placed in retirement once this property clean-up project is complete — and I may be right behind them.
It was a perfect morning to work outside though! Sunny and low 70’s is as good as it gets, you guys. We finished one part at the back ally and Ben commented that it’s just a different kind of ugly now. We haven’t decided yet if the bricks that border the area should be removed and grass seeded — or if there should be landscaping.
Either way, I’ll bet the neighbors will be happy.
In multiple areas along his fence there are HUGE, beautiful Hosta plants. They put mine to shame and Ben could care less about them. “Dig them up and take them… I don’t care,” he said. If I planned to stay here I would do just that. Why is it that his are never touched and look amazing while mine look like they’re barely hanging on?
My tomatoes are puny and my Hosta plants look malnourished. I’m blaming it on the soil instead of admitting that I just suck at gardening. I’m the queen of wielding a weed eater and we can’t be good at everything. Right? 🙂
TIL (Today I Learned): The nursery rhyme ‘Mary, Mary Quite Contrary’ isn’t really so kid friendly. The ‘Mary’ referenced is ‘Bloody Mary’ — Mary I of England — who gained the nickname because she ruthlessly persecuted Protestants. “Cockleshells” and “silver bells” refer to instruments of torture. Oh my!
