Went with Perry today for his COVID booster. The drive through clinic opened at 3:00 PM. Had I been with Mr. Peskie, we would’ve arrived no later than 2:30 PM. Not Perry! We got there around 3:30 or so and there were quite a few cars in line. Still, the wait was short. Fifteen minutes in and out. Tops!
I was asked about 10 times if I was there for a booster too. No; I am not. One this week was more than enough. We were also told in advance this drive through did not offer cheeseburgers.
Perry had no immediate symptoms after the injection and only complained about being cold (with a sore throat MAYBE) a couple hours later. By around 10:00 PM, he was fading a bit but had no real complaints. He said he had a slight headache but nothing out of the ordinary. He crashed around midnight.
Perry is the only one in our crew that started and boosted with Pfizer. Insofar as the rest of us — Ben and I were puny for about 30-hours. Mom seemed to get better but struggled again last night. She’s still struggling and I’m not sure she will be cooperative if another booster is required. Mr. Peskie had zero symptoms and the jury is still out on Perry.
My favorite brother and his wife both had Pfizer and neither had symptoms after the first 2 doses. Scott has had a booster with no symptoms but… get this… Tammy doesn’t qualify in Nevada. They’re only doing boosters for those aged 60+ — but she could come here and be legal in Indiana. Maybe because Indiana is pulling down the national average with only 50.01% fully vaccinated (the US is 58.6%), they’ll stick anybody.
It’s never fun to get a shot — and being sick afterward when you’re not sure you’d have horrible symptoms anyway makes it more difficult to be happy about it. I figure 30 hours of feeling awful beats the potential of a ventilator… no matter how slight that chance may be. If offered again in 4 months or so to stay protected, I’ll be back in line.
