there’s a monster living under the deck

Mar 25, 2024

When I went to bed last night, no rain was in the forecast. I planned today for the start of spring yard work. Within 30-minutes of awake time, my weather apps let me know it might rain. I’m still hopeful though! The rain chance is low enough that I am optimistic.

Y’all know how it is, right? If you don’t get the first mow done before the grass gets too tall, it’s twice as hard. I don’t mind maintaining everything throughout the summer, but I sure hate whipping it into shape in early spring.

What goes under the deck at night?

I KNOW there’s some critter visiting the barndo at night… creeping under the deck. I know this because when I let the dogs out first thing in the morning, they smell through every crack trying to pinpoint where the unknown visitor has been.

Whatever it is, it’s sneaky. It goes under from some area that doesn’t set-off a camera alert which means it isn’t getting near any entry point to the house. The chick that bought my little house has been posting photos on Facebook of her cat posed with dead snakes. She’s caught and killed more than a few.

I’m hoping my nightly visitor is a racoon since I’m not a fan of snakes or skunks.

Now you know: U.S. President John Kennedy survived 4 assassination attempts before he was killed in Dallas, Tx on 22 November 1963.
