Every single morning, my alarm clock goes off at the same time although I don’t set it. Now retired, I don’t have any specific time I need to get up, but my new red alarm clock doesn’t agree.

7:30AM on the dot.
This little guy pecks and flogs the window starting at the same exact time every single day. He starts at the front door and progresses to the office. My once clean windows are covered in dirty peck marks, and my chair on the deck is dripping with bird poop.
I love to watch birds on the feeder… but red dude obviously didn’t read the rule book.
Territorial behavior during breeding season?
Grok says my guy is territorial and trying to drive away the competition (his reflection). The answer provided to stop the alarm clock is to soap my windows? Seriously… I’m supposed to take a bar of soap and smear my windows up to break the reflection so I can sleep in. 🙄
Now you know: Octopuses are programmed to die after reproducing, as an optic gland hormone triggers rapid self destruction, with males declining within days to weeks after mating, and females starving while guarding eggs until death. No octopus lives longer than 5 years even in ideal conditions.
