critters are everywhere… be safe out there!

I got up this morning to find little feetie prints on the arm of the adirondack chair on the front deck. They are about 1.5 inches long, and I have no clue what made them. Grok and ChatGPT both said they were from a racoon with 80% reliability. Not sure I agree… they look more like they were made from an alien baby. What say you?

Observation #2:

Next, I looked at my camera feeds and found that in back of the house (not where this print was found — it required being inside the fenced in yard), something crossed in front of the camera. Dark and raining, we couldn’t tell if it was a critter walking on the ground beside the lower deck, or if it was a worm. 🙁

It looked like it could’ve been a tendril from some outer space creature… so there’s that.

And finally, today, I drove to Franklin, IN.

Franklin is the meeting spot to pick up my favorite granddaughter. We took the obligatory selfie so her Dad would know all was well…

That’s when we were stopped by a flock of Canadian geese. 🪿

I’m feeling critter magnet vibes and wonder what I’ll discover tonight. I’m hoping for all earthly animals that are small and non-threatening.

Now you know: Ruby is famous for being the painting elephant. When her keepers at the Phoenix Zoo saw her scratching in the dirt with a stick, they gave her a brush and paints. For 3 years, zookeepers did not publicize the knowledge that Ruby could paint. Eventually her paintings were sold to raise money for conservation earning over $500,000. The highest recorded price for a single painting was $25K.
