midterm disappointments and WoW Forever

Nov 4, 2026

Sitting here after 2:00 AM watching election returns, I’m listening to a soft rain on a metal roof and a dog snoring while thinking about the results.

I especially had my eye on 3 races and lost two of them.

I expected to see blue wins in the midterms — it’s normal when the President is red. The Senate losses are what make this look especially damaging to Republicans compared with a routine midterm. I wanted Talarico to lose (even though I didn’t necessarily want Paxton to win). I wanted El-Sayed to lose. Oh well…

But I wanted the drunk Indiana chick, Jaime West, to lose. And she did. 🙂

Listen, I hate politics and I’m probably 100% wrong in what I’m about to say, but here goes anyway:

My thoughts on why Republican’s came up short…

  • Republicans mistook agreement on some cultural and border issues for permission to disappoint voters on costs, war and accountability.
  • Iran — we’ve been told we stopped them making nukes 100 times. The fair demand is a clear objective, credible evidence of what was accomplished, and an explanation of what ends U.S. involvement.
  • Distrust of the government amplified by the Epstein files. Trump has explicitly used “Democrat hoax” language when discussing the controversy, but that wording blurs the distinction between political accusations and a real abuse case with real victims.
  • Household costs/gas prices.

WoW Forever releases tomorrow!

We’ve played World of Warcraft for YEARS… to the point we were bored with it. But tomorrow is the release of the game that is different than the current retail version, and I’m excited to try it out. I’ll still take time out of Azeroth to enjoy the fall though…

Now you know: There’s a golden statue of Buddha in Thailand weighing 5.5 metric tonnes. For nearly 200 years, it was covered with stucco and coloured glass to conceal its value. It remained that way until 1955 during relocation when the plaster was accidentally chipped, revealing the gold underneath.
