Around 1:30 AM, I heard my phone’s Siri talking. I go to sleep with the TV on and turn it off in the night, so good ole’ Siri thought she was asked an important question.
With the new OS, I’m getting notifications I’ve never seen before.
And I don’t like it.
With Alexa, there’s a log history so you can go back and see the questions and answers — but not Apple. The long, intrusive message from last night is gone forever, and I was too far asleep to read (without glasses) or remember it this morning. And, there is no built-in schedule or timer setting that automatically turns Siri’s voice listening on and off during specific hours. LAME!
You can place your phone face down on a flat surface to temporarily pause Siri from responding to voice prompts — but according to your phone’s settings, the gal may be listening just the same. Needless to say, I turned all that shit off first thing this morning (turn off background listening by turning off “hey Siri” or “Siri.”)
The older I get, the less clutter I want.
And although I’m married to Apple right now, I’m falling more and more out of love every single day.
