impeccable timing for the win!

Apr 27, 2026

The entire weekend past was dedicated to filling a dumpster with items too big to dispose of with regular garbage pickup. It was a back-breaking job! Tonight is the last night to throw away last minute items — IF we can get them to fit.

Rain was forecasted for this afternoon – storms likely tonight.

It’s the time of year in southern Indiana that you mow between rainfall. If you miss a single time, the grass gets ahead of you and the yard looks like it’s a hayfield once mowed. There’s no way I’m raking a yard this size!

I started working outside as soon as the overnight dew had dissipated, and finished the yard work chore just when the first drop of rain fell. BAM! That’s what you call impeccable timing.

April showers…

Last I heard, we’re supposed to have rain for two more days after this one. I feel all kinds of proud and accomplished that I got all my outside work done beforehand.

A new project will begin next Monday, but for the rest of this week, I only have regular household stuff to keep up with. Oh… and I’ll need to mow again before then too — if it stops raining long enough, that is.

Now you know: In 1963, a man renovating his home in Turkey noticed his chickens kept disappearing into a crack in his basement wall. When he dug it open, he found the ancient city of Derinkuyu, an 18 level city 85m underground that could shelter 20,000 people.
