When someone retires, we often picture leisurely mornings, fishing trips, and afternoons spent relaxing in a favorite chair. After decades of working, they’ve certainly earned it.
But then there are people like Ric.
He’s the kind of person who knows how to do just about everything. If something is broken, he fixes it. If something needs to be built, he builds it. If there’s a problem, he doesn’t spend much time talking about it—he simply gets to work.

The working conditions were far from ideal — the thermometer hovered around 95° and the summer sun showed no mercy. Most people would have found a dozen reasons to wait for cooler weather. But not Ric.
Some people retire from a paycheck, but they never retire from their character. Their work ethic doesn’t disappear because they no longer have a time clock to punch. Their willingness to help others isn’t tied to a job description.
These are the people who quietly make the world a better place.
