dog gaseous expulsions

Dec 7, 2012

I hope the title of this post got your attention because I can’t believe I really typed it in there. Let me explain…

One of the plugins I use on whatifitdid.com (as well as other sites I manage) provides web analytics and puts this cool little bar graphic across the top of every page right up there with the other ordinary options. While I pay attention to statistics on other sites, I rarely check them here. I’m amazed that anyone reads this crap besides my family and friends, but there is a good number of consistent visitors and the graph doesn’t fluctuate enough that I notice. So I’m staring at this white post box thinking that when I promised to share something every single day in 2012 I must’ve been crazy — when I notice the bar is lit up! Of course, I had to find out why…

That’s right — that’s what visitors were searching for when they found whatifitdid.com. To be clear — my dogs don’t do that except when they eat macaroni and cheese and I wouldn’t talk about it no matter how desperate I was to think of something to write about. So I look again and figure out that when visitors performed that search they landed on the page where I reference Text From Dog, and there’s nothing on that post that says anything about shameless gaseous expulsions from dogs.

I’m pretty sure this is direct proof that web analytics are next to worthless. From a business standpoint, this should probably be considered as you plan budgets for 2013.

I should’ve left well enough alone because now Libby is obsessed over the issue and can’t stop thinking about this latest development.
