Have you ever wanted something you had to wait for and when the time neared you got all anxious about it? That’s where I am right this second. A morning text from my contractor to let me know he’d be calling this afternoon to discuss a plan of action for the room with no walls has me both excited and feeling an overwhelming sense of dread.
Why dread you ask?
Well… as you can see, the room with no walls is FULL. It’s full of stuff that’s going to be difficult to move. All the items are bulky and heavy. It’s the room we spend most of our time in. And finally, it’s where I work. EeeEeeek!!!
I’m more than ready for the change — heck, I’ve been talking about walls since last October. But so soon after moving all our crap from one house to another, I can’t express how much I dread even thinking about going through this.
Where are we to go?
The garage door you see will be removed and that’s going to leave a big hole leading into the gravel floor garage until it’s covered with wall board and a closet. And right now, it’s cold outside. Winter isn’t finished with the Ville yet as evidenced by yesterday’s snow flurries…
I’ll find out this afternoon when I speak with Mr. Contractor how long this will take… and how much crap they can work around. Shit is about to get real around here, you guys. ๐ฏ
TIL (Today I Learned): The crews of Apollo 11, 12, and 14 had to spend 3 weeks in quarantine after returning to Earth because of the possibility that they might spread contagions from the moon.
The winter storm that went through yesterday is over and forecasters are already talking about another huge weather fiasco for next week. When this last one was first being announced, the National Weather Service’s winter weather warning was grim. It wasn’t a “slow down and take your time while driving” message — it was a “change your plans” one.
It was worse north of the ville.
North of the Ville, in Columbus, IN, there were quite a few accidents, but the storm obviously shifted because “slow down” was even pushing it here.
At its worst, it wasn’t really a big deal.
Fresh air!
Some of our clients have connected with me on Facebook. I’m ok with that, but I refuse to use my account to sell anything. Others use it only for that. It seems like 90% of Facebook is marketing to 90% of the people also engaging there to market their stuff. Rarely do I find anything good or interesting — but today one of our past coaching clients slowed down my scroll.
The chick is in her 40’s… closer to 50 I’d guess… and she’s a wellness coach. Just like my favorite brother uses “distinction,” her word is audacious. Her “live your best life” and “choose joy” push is good advice, but her level of excitement is waaaay over what I can muster.
Her advice today — along with a selfie with snow on her coat and a scarf around her neck — was to get fresh air no matter what it’s like outside. She explained that getting outside daily is good for the body, mind, and spirit. I totally agree with her! But…
Ummm… no thanks. How about you?
TIL (Today I Learned): Pupfish is the most rare endangered fish species. They live exclusively in “Devil’s Hole”, a single tiny pool of water of unknown depth, roughly 90 miles NW of Las Vegas. (Wiki read on Devil’s Hole Pupfish.)
The big scary storm is turning out to be not so scary after all. At least so far anyway. While this slushy stuff may change to snow later today, right now it’s just a whole lot of wet. I watched a Facebook video of my buddy, Alisa, making her way to work in Seymour this morning and she said all is clear.
The Weather Channel fail…
Alisa does a whole lot better relating weather conditions than weather.com. Yes, seriously. Because I HATE ads and prefer up-to-date weather info, I decided to pay for their Premium Pro Annual service. Opening up the app, I’m still getting ads… same ole’ thing I got before.
It’s nearly impossible to contact anyone there — the only link where you can email about an issue is “feedback.” Oh, I have feedback, alright! I noted my issue and promptly got a reply…

MORE THAN 90 DAYS??
It could be May before y’all fix what I paid for? I don’t think so. I gave them 24-hours and cancelled my subscription. I plan to focus my efforts on booking consulting for the company — you know… on how to treat customers. ๐
TIL (Today I Learned): Amelia Earhart and Eleanor Roosevelt once during a White House event, commandeered an airplane, and went on a joyride to Baltimore.
Meteorologists came up a tad short with today’s forecast. We actually got more snow than predicted and y’all know that makes me happy! ๐
I may go outside with a yardstick later (no promises!) but I’m guessing at least 3 inches and probably more?
It’s still snowing but tapering off here in the Ville around 10:00 AM and the temps are hovering right at 32 degrees. I can see there’s not a creature stirring at the Pesky Neighbor’s house.
Ben was the only one out and about on the roads this morning that I’ve spoken to. He said travel was worse early this morning than when we had the bigger snow (the sub-zero snowfall) at Christmastime. Hope everyone stays safe!
This concludes the special weather alert for 1/22/2023. ๐
Yesterday was the day to un-Christmas the barndo. I took down the two inside trees AND carried the heavy turds upstairs for storage along with the boxes of lights and ornaments. This was AFTER I did my 30-minutes on the treadmill.
My “helpers” are not fans of the vacuum.
As I took the photo above, I noticed the snow hadn’t been cleaned from the deck. Add to that the sidewalk is in the shade so it was still snow and ice covered. I pulled out the snow shovel first and got the worst scraped off — and then I swept it all with a broom to get rid of as much moisture as possible so it wouldn’t refreeze. Next, I saw the forecast calling for rain. ๐
Yesterday was a gorgeous day in the mid-high 50’s and the snow should disappear today.
Lastly, I took down the outside decor and got it stored upstairs. The whole un-Christmasing thing is sort of sad even though it’s nice to be rid of the holiday clutter.
I already miss the disco tree. ๐ข
TIL (Today I Learned): The first mac & cheese recipe dates to the year 1390, when it appeared in the cookbook “The Forme of Cury”. It used fresh, hand-cut pasta sandwiched between a mixture of melted butter and grated cheese.
