I’m a team player and I can prove it

My favorite pizza comes from Pizza King (Pizza Palace here in Seymour). It’s Ben’s favorite too. But Perry? He doesn’t agree and therefore knows very little about what makes pizza great. Only to prove I’m a team player and don’t always have to have my way, we had HIS favorite for dinner tonight… Papa Johns.

In other news, we had a huge snow this morning! If you look closely, you might see a flake or two in the photo below and can probably make out the ground cover. 😉

you call this snow?

North Vernon school system didn’t need snow to shut their doors. On Friday, they had over 600 students COVID positive and have gone to eLearning for as long as it takes. Seymour is currently still educating as usual.

I saw a photo someone posted on Facebook today of the Crothersville Fire Department. I grabbed it to share here — and to text to Buster because he’s in the group. Taken in the 80’s, so many of them are already dead. 🙁

still a raving fan after 30+ years

still a raving fan after 30+ years

Perry has been a Bengals fan ever since I’ve known him. He claims even before that he cheered for the losing team and remained loyal although frustrated. After last night’s game, he’s on cloud nine — and admittedly stunned.

The Bengals 31-year drought without a postseason win is over! They beat the Raiders — leaving the Detroit Lions to hold the title of the NFL team that’s gone the longest without a playoff win.

In other history-making news, we had a HUGE snow. Ok… so we had a few little flakes. I’m still cheering for Mother Nature to pull a big one out for me.

Snow – around 25 flakes total

While not much, it was still enough to have Dharma wanting in and out at least 200 times throughout the day. She stands by my desk and grunts… while staring… until I give in.

Dharma is a pest to go outside in the snow

No other great weather incoming and what we had yesterday is totally gone today. It was only a dusting anyway… Mom thought it was just a hard frost in the Ville.

Recipe with no name

I found a recipe I’m going to try tomorrow:

1 small can pineapple tidbits with juice, half bag baby carrots, 1 onion, 6 potatoes, smoked sausage, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and a half stick of butter. Cut everything in chunks and cook in crockpot on low for 6-8 hours.

Sound good? You could play along at home and make it with me. Otherwise, I’ll let you know how it turns out — it sounds so easy I’m not sure even I can screw it up.

did anyone in Indiana NOT have chili last night?

did anyone in Indiana NOT have chili last night?

The cold started yesterday and into the night it only got worse in Indiana. No more than 15 degrees F, I wonder how many families ate chili for dinner. 🙂 This morning, it’s -1°F.

It did NOT snow in my city yesterday at all. The Peskies got snow in the Ville…

At Perry’s workplace in Madison, their snowfall was even greater…

What we got here was not snow. What we got was bored and sleepy…

Got word yesterday that Omicron cases have overtaken Delta now in Indiana. It’s said that 56% of cases are Omicron and that number is likely more like 80% because of the lagging test numbers.

Had a conversation with Perry last night about how events are rescheduling. It’s exactly like it was in March 2020. What’s worse this time around for me is because it’s COLD. Insofar as my job, there’s work to do when client’s decide not to go forward with events because they need to reschedule and coordinate calendars. Then, it drops off to nothing. Before, I had grass to mow and flowers to plant and could walk the dogs.

Again, it’s much worse this time. And not just because it’s COLD, but also because we’ve already done this. Things were almost back to normal and looking up. Life was returning to normal and then… BAM! Even if no one else gets sick after today, it will take some time to gear back up to what it was just two-weeks ago.

I’m not the only one who thinks COVID and frigid temps suck…

Covid sucks

I mowed in shorts in the afternoon and then watched it snow – it’s called smowing

It ended up being right at 63°F when I mowed yesterday afternoon. I wore shorts and a lightweight sweatshirt. By the time I was finished with the weed eater I was hot. It was typical late-April weather in Indiana… nothing special.

Then it snowed.

snow in April in Indiana

Not enough snow to cause the roads to be slick, but enough to make them steamy from the sunshine earlier in the day. The ground was totally covered by bedtime and it was still snowing…

ground cover snow

Snow falling this late in the calendar year hasn’t happened since 1989 in Indiana. One week from today the forecast is calling for 80°F.

TIL (Today I Learned): In 1996, a ‘fan’ of serial killer Richard Ramirez (Night Stalker) married him in prison. Thirteen years later, when DNA evidence showed he killed a 9-year old girl in addition to the 13 adults he murdered that she knew about, she dumped him. (Guess you must draw the line somewhere?) It didn’t take him long to replace ole’ Doreen — he was engaged to a 23 year-old writer, Christine Lee, when he died at 53 while on death row. Want to know more about the psychopath and his crazy fans — here’s the link…

a potential for a mass murder

a potential for a mass murder

We all know that icicles “have been known to kill people.” This means that our home has the potential for mass murder.

death by icicle?

More snow this morning, but it has warmed up from the 0’s to the 20’s. I ventured out to the mailbox, but no one has cleaned the porch or the sidewalk — or even the driveway for that matter.

snowy at the murder house in Indiana

In the land of COVID, that doesn’t matter since visitors aren’t likely and the driveway is good enough to get in and out of. That PLUS the fact that we’re going to be in the 40’s with rain by Sunday, working to clear snow seems like a big ole’ waste of time and energy. Bigger problems are the horizon… like… dogs going outside in the muck and tracking it all over the house by weekend.

The peskies got their 2nd COVID vaccination yesterday and all is well. My favorite brother, living in Nevada, is trying to get an appointment now that their state has lowered the age to 65+ but can’t get in anywhere. Me? I keep refreshing the Indiana vaccine site to see when my age group opens up. Nothing yet. 🙁
